RXMARINE CHEMICAL TAG::
Lithium bromide is an extremely hygroscopic chemical commonly used in absorption chillers, where water is the refrigerant. Because of its high affinity to water, LiBr can easily absorb excess vapor, making the system an environmentally friendly non-CFC alternative.
- An efficient protocol for the hydroboration of imines is reported. Lithium halide salts are effective catalysts to convert aldimines and ketimines to their corresponding amines. Here, we report excellent isolated yield of secondary amines (>95%) using 3 mol% lithium bromide in THF at room temperature. In addition, DFT calculations for a plausible reaction pathway are reported.
A 50–60% aqueous solution of lithium bromide is used in air-conditioning systems as desiccant. It is also used as a salt in absorption chilling along with water (see absorption refrigerator). Solid LiBr is a useful reagent in organic synthesis.
- Immediate release: 900-2400 mg/day orally divided every 6-8 hours.
- Extended release: 900-1800 mg/day orally divided every 12 hours.
- Lower initial dosage may be used to minimize adverse drug reactions.
