It is used in other applications including ore flotation, oil recovery, making dyes, and detergent.

It is toxic if swallowed and is very toxic to aquatic life. Contact with acids must be avoided. In contact with acids, the toxic gas Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) can be released.
