Meta Dinitro Benzene

Product Description

M-dinitrobenzene, also known as 1,3-dinitrobenzene, is a yellow crystalline solid that's used to make dyes, explosives, and other chemicals. It's toxic and can cause reproductive harm.

Application

APPLICATION::

  • Dye Intermediate: It's a crucial raw material for the synthesis of various dyes.
  • Explosive Production: It's involved in the manufacture of explosives, often as a byproduct of making other explosives like TNT.
  • Organic Synthesis: Serves as a reactant in the synthesis of other organic compounds, including 2′,6′- dinitrobiphenyl-4-ol and 1-nitrodibenzofuran.
  • Industrial Solvent: Used as a solvent in various industrial processes, potentially including the production of perfumes and drugs.
  • Analytical Applications: Can be used in analytical techniques like HPLC derivatization for steroid detection.
  • Other Uses: Some literature mentions its use as a camphor substitute or in the preparation of specific compounds.
Dose

Meta-dinitrobenzene (m-DNB), also known as 1,3-dinitrobenzene, is a chemical compound with the formula C6H4(NO2)2. It's a disubstituted aromatic compound where two nitro groups are attached to the benzene ring in the meta (1,3) positions. It's a yellow solid with a slight odor, sinks in water, and has a melting point of 89.8°C.
