Also known as

Ammonium Iron II Sulphate HexaHydrate, Mohr's Salt, Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate

Product Description

Ammonium iron(II) sulfate hexahydrate, also known as Mohr's salt, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2·6H2O, a double salt of ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate, and is a common laboratory reagent. Ammonium iron(II) sulfate hexahydrate is widely utilized in analytical chemistry for titration purposes since it is affected lesser by oxygen in the air than iron(II) sulpahte. It is employed to measure high doses of gamma rays by using Fricke's dosemeter.

Application

APPLICATION::

  • Analytical Chemistry: Used in redox titrations as a standard solution due to its stability and high molecular mass.
  • Fricke's Dosimeter: Used to measure high doses of gamma rays.
  • Nanomaterials: Involved in various applications from nanomaterials to general redox reactions.
  • Medical Field: Used as an antianemic agent for iron deficiency treatment.
  • Redox Flow Battery: Can be used as a negative electrolyte to develop a vanadium/iron redox flow battery (V/Fe RFB).
  • Catalyst: Can be used as a precursor to synthesize iron oxide nanoparticles deposited over bismuth carbonate/ACF(fiber) which can be used as an efficient catalyst for wastewater treatment.
  • Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell: Can be used to modify methyl orange dye via metal insertion reaction, which acts as a light harvester on DSSC.
