Application:
Methyl red is a pH indicator; it is red in pH under 4.4, yellow in pH over 6.2, and orange in between, with a pKa of 5.1. Murexide and methyl red are investigated as promising enhancers of sonochemical destruction of chlorinated hydrocarbon pollutants.
Using Procedure:
Our Methyl Red (MR) Reagent is an indicator solution used to indicate the pH of the broth culture in the methyl red test. The methyl red test is used to detect the ability of an organism to produce and maintain acid end products from glucose fermentation.
Note:
This test is used to determine which fermentation pathway is used to utilize glucose. In the mixed acid fermentation pathway, glucose is fermented and produces several organic acids
